Here i bring you the full Tariff details of the newly launched Reliance GSM service in Chennai in this post.


SIM Card Cost :Rs.49/-

First recharge(Similar to activation): Rs.46/-

Totally, you need (49+46)=Rs.95/- for owning a fully activated Reliance GSM SIM

(Recharge of atleast Rs.200/- every 6 months necessary like all operators)

2) Talk Time: Rs.20/-(Initial Talk time)

3) 5p/min @ 11pm-6am for Reliance to Reliance mobile

4) 30p/min -To all Local Reliance Mobiles

5) 60p/min-To all other local phones

6) Re. 1/min -STD

Note: The above mentioned tariff is valid for 3 months staring from April. It might change later.

Airtel Withdraws 18 Night SMS Booster Pack

Airtel has withdrawn the Night SMS booster pack(MRP 18/-) which it had released 2-3 months ago.As per the booster, the customer enjoys 10,000 Local SMS free from night 11p.m-6 a.m.

You might have noticed that of late ,Airtel has been in a spree of modifying and cutting old booster packs for the past 2-3 weeks as in my previous posts..And this falls next in line...

With effect from today i.e(18th April,2009) this booster pack service has been removed.Actually, I was using this booster pack until now and was really startled to see this SMS flash in the morning.

Kindly Note, owing to technical issue,Rs.18 Booster Pack has been withdrawn. An amount of Rs.18 will be credited in your Main Account today.

But adding more surprises was the fact that Airtel has actually credited double the amount (Rs.36/-) to my main account instead of Rs.18/-. But I could never take risks with Airtel as you might never know that they might realise their fault later and deduct the remaining 18 Rs. So, I have happily exhausted the amount talking....

But one thing which I like about Airtel is that they are atleast curteous enough to reimburse the full price of booster back to the main account inspite of me using it for over two weeks.

New Airtel Booster Packs for Chennai and TamilNadu

Airtel has modified or changed its earlier booster packs from this month of April. Some of the booster packs have been altered as per customer needs.(Some as per the company's needs as well!)


The Airtel 85 booster pack which was available for the past few months is no longer available. Instead a new booster pack with MRP 74 Rs. Have been introduced .Using this pack, airtel to airtel calls can be made at 20 paise/min and airtel to other mobiles @50 paise/min. No free sms.Other charges remain same as per old plan.


Another Airtel 61 Booster is modified with 100 free sms/day providing a suitable alternative to the usual Airtel 60 SMS booster 61 booster pack also includes A to A calls @30p/min and A to other mobiles @49 paise.

Reliance GSM service in Chennai

After capturing the CDMA market, Reliance had already ventured into GSM service in many parts of India .In Chennai, Reliance GSM was launched yesterday ,the April 11th ,2009.Though there were many offers for Reliance GSM in southern districts when it was laaunched, Chennai Reliance GSM do not have much offers.The offers are more or less same as other service providers like Airtel,aircel,vodafone etc...

The lifetime card costs Rs.49 which has to be recharged initially for 46 rs which has a talk time of 20 Rs.

The lifetime card has tariff of

0.60 paise for all local mobiles
1 re/- for all STD
11pm-6am Reliance to reliance @5p/min
Reliance to Reliance @30p/min
